THE PROJECT

The 2DENHANCED project brings together the advanced potential of nanomaterials, particularly graphene and its derivatives, with cutting-edge manufacturing technologies of the Industry 4.0 era. This initiative is driven by a global collaboration between academic and industrial partners, including key players from the UAE, to explore and apply 2D materials in real-world applications. The project focuses on demonstrating the practical use of 2D materials, such as graphene, combined with modern production techniques like additive manufacturing. The goal is to develop high-tech prototypes and solutions that reach high technology readiness levels (TRL) and can have a significant market impact. Building on recent scientific breakthroughs and substantial global investments, 2DENHANCED aims to push the boundaries of graphene applications in industrial plastics across various sectors, including construction, healthcare (for pathogen protection), and aerospace (for electromagnetic radiation shielding). The project seeks to transition these innovative materials into ready-for-market products, fostering a deeper connection between academia, industry, and the UAE’s economy. The outcomes of this project include the development of new products, advanced manufacturing processes, and personnel training programs. It will create valuable industry/academic collaborations, promote sustainable manufacturing practices, and enhance the scientific and technical capacity of all partners involved.
